STAFF REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 21 years old or a graduate of our UJL program + completed their growth year

  • Must be knowledgeable about LGBTQ+ issues, culture, and terms.

  • Must be able to pass a government background check and reference check.

  • Must be a positive and encouraging role model for LGBTQ+ youth with strong boundaries. Applicants should be willing to get silly and genuinely enjoy working with teens!

  • Brave Trails has a mix of volunteer and paid opportunities. All staff will be provided with housing and meals during camp sessions and staff training periods. Brave Trails does not cover transportation costs.

  • Must be able to attend a full camp session and the mandatory staff training that takes place prior to the start of the session.

  • Camp is physically demanding. Applicants should be in good physical health & be able to withstand being on their feet most of the day in mountain terrain, while participating in camp activities/duties and supervising campers. Applicants should be able to lift at least 40 lbs.

  • Applicants should be mentally healthy and in a good, stable emotional state. Applicants should be comfortable with caring for and supporting campers who may be going though mental health struggles, conflicts at home, and gender dysphoria.

  • Applicants should feel comfortable with being in a rustic, forest environment and having little access to internet or phone reception.

  • We do not allow family members of campers to work at the same session their camper is attending.
