STAFF REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 21 years old or a graduate of our UJL program + completed their growth year
Must be knowledgeable about LGBTQ+ issues, culture, and terms.
Must be able to pass a government background check and reference check.
Must be a positive and encouraging role model for LGBTQ+ youth with strong boundaries. Applicants should be willing to get silly and genuinely enjoy working with teens!
Brave Trails has a mix of volunteer and paid opportunities. All staff will be provided with housing and meals during camp sessions and staff training periods. Brave Trails does not cover transportation costs.
Must be able to attend a full camp session and the mandatory staff training that takes place prior to the start of the session.
Camp is physically demanding. Applicants should be in good physical health & be able to withstand being on their feet most of the day in mountain terrain, while participating in camp activities/duties and supervising campers. Applicants should be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
Applicants should be mentally healthy and in a good, stable emotional state. Applicants should be comfortable with caring for and supporting campers who may be going though mental health struggles, conflicts at home, and gender dysphoria.
Applicants should feel comfortable with being in a rustic, forest environment and having little access to internet or phone reception.
We do not allow family members of campers to work at the same session their camper is attending.
