JOINT STATEMENT FROM LGBTQ+ AFFIRMING CAMPS

A JOINT STATEMENT FROM LGBTQ+ AFFIRMING CAMPS

As organizations dedicated to creating spaces where 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, individuals, and families can thrive, we stand united in the face of unprecedented political challenges. Together, we represent a community of camps that honor, uplift, and empower 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals with the support, celebration, and connection they deserve. In these times of adversity, our commitment to cultivating safe, affirming, and inclusive spaces has never been more critical.

We recognize the deep and lasting impact that discriminatory rhetoric and policies have on our youth and their families. These attacks can leave individuals feeling isolated and vulnerable. Yet, in the face of this, we draw strength from our ancestors and share a mission to be places of refuge, empowerment, and joy. Our camps stand as vibrant reminders that 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals are seen, valued, and deeply loved.

At the heart of our work is an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are dedicated to celebrating the full spectrum of the identities and experiences in our communities. Through intentional programming and active advocacy, we pledge to not only create inclusive spaces but also to challenge systems of oppression that threaten the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. This commitment is woven into the fabric of everything we do, from the campfire to the broader fight for justice.

We also hold fast to the power of joy, connection, and community. These are not just ideals—they are acts of resistance. By creating spaces where 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and their families can laugh, dream, and build lasting bonds, we affirm the strength and resilience of our communities. Together, we light the path forward toward a future where everyone can live authentically and unapologetically.

To our campers, staff, families, and allies: we see you, we celebrate you, and we promise to continue fighting for you. By standing together, we amplify our voices and strengthen our collective impact.

Now, more than ever, our unity matters. Together, we will rise above the challenges and continue building a world where 2SLGBTQIA+ youth are empowered to thrive—a world where love and authenticity prevail!
